Sweetpea went on a date last night!!  She is calling it her first date.  She has had boyfriends but it has always been a group of friends hanging out and then gravitating towards a boy and then the "will you go out with me" sort of thing. 

 

But this boy is a friend of a friend hers. (one that sort of went away for while but now she is coming around again ).  She had met him a couple times and was hanging out with her friend Friday and he was part of the group.  They were texting over the weekend and yesterday he asked if she would want to hang out sometime.  She said sure.  Then he asked if she would want to go on a date.  She said sure.  He was asking her what she wanted to do and she said "surprise me".   That was a huge mistake for SP.  She really does not like surprises - well, not that she doesn't like surprises but that she can't stand the suspense.  She wants to know NOW.  He texted her back a bit later and told her to dress nice and reservations were at 7:30.  But that was all he was going to tell her.  Ok - what a way to stress a teenage girl out.  Tell her to dress nice but don't tell her where she's going.  There are 50 different ways to dress.  I kept telling SP that it was her fault for saying "surprise me". 

 

She was quite giddy.  And had about a 50 anxiety attacks.  Of course we made him come up to the door to get her so we could check him out.  He seemed nice enough.  He graduated last year, which freaked me out for a minute but then I realized (gulp) that my daughter will be 18 in a 3 months.  So someone that's graduated is probably only 18, maybe 19.  Did I mention that my baby will be 18 in 3 months and 9 days?

 

He took her to a restaurant called Daniels and it is on the waterfront.  Then they just sat by the water and talked for a long time and people watched.  On they way home they talked about a 2nd date.  So cute.
